The Day of the Leaders of the Bulgarian National Revival is a holiday of all Bulgarians which marks the deed of the Bulgarian teachers, men of letters, revolutionaries and holy leaders of the reviving national spirit. It is celebrated on 1 November every year and is an official holiday in the Republic of Bulgaria.

On 3 February 1923 Tzar Boris III signed the Law for introducing the Day of the Leaders of the Bulgarian National Revival. The holiday had been for the first time celebrated unofficially in the town of Plovdiv in 1909 and for the period 1922 to 1945 had turned to be an official holiday. During the socialist era the holiday was unofficially marked by the people and on 28 October 1992 the tradition had been revived and the day was again included in the calendar of the national holidays in Bulgaria.

1 November is the day when the people in Bulgaria pay tribute to their national leaders in order to keep the memory for those who created and consolidated the Bulgarian state and Bulgarian spirit.

The most popular and honored Bulgarian National Revival leaders are ST. Ivan Rislki, Grigoriy Tzamblak, Vladislav Gramatik, Dimiter Kantakuzin, Peter Parchevic, Peter Bogdan, Paisiy Hilendarski, Matey Gramatik, Neofit Bozveli, Neofit Rilski, the two brothers Dimiter and Konstantin Miladinovs, Georgi Stoikov Rakovski, Vassil Levski, Hristo Botev, Stefan Karadja, Hadji Dimiter, Lyuben Karavelov, Dobri Chintulov, Ivan Vazov and many others.

Let us pay our tribute to them and express our thankfulness for what they did in order to announce to the world that some of the most ancient layers of human civilization gleam in Bulgarian literature and culture.

We wish a happy Holiday to all Bulgarians!
